Cohen's 2-month stats and surgery update.

Cohen had a pretty rough 2nd month with some tummy issues, reflux and dealing with laryngomalacia. It is crazy because laryngomalacia is not genetic and Caroline had the same thing and the same surgery done when she was three months old. Basically, it is the softening of the tissues of the larynx (voicebox) above the vocal cords. This softening causes the tissues to become floppy, and they may fall over the airway and partially block it. It is a common condition in infants and usually corrects itself by 18-20 months. However, after the ENT took a look with the camera down Cohen's throat he felt his was moderate, so he would benefit from surgery. So, on March 16th Cohen had a procedure called supraglottoplasty. In the surgery, extra tissue above the vocal cords is trimmed in the operating room. Cohen was put under general anesthesia and the doctor did a thorough evaluation of his airway and removed the excess tissue. Genrally, they require the babies to spend one night in PICU, but Cohen did so great, we got moved within a hour to express care and had to spend the night to make sure he was eating good and no swelling in his airway. Cohen's recovery was much easier than Caroline's and I can tell he is breathing much better, however his reflux is still really bad. David and I are so thankful that Lesley was here during the surgery to take care of Caroline and Corbin.

Cohen's two month stats:

Weight: 9 lbs 11 oz-10th percentile (update that today April 5th, he is already up to 12 lbs 2 oz)

Height: 22 3/4 inches long-45th percentile

Head: 15 inches-15th percentile

Cohen is pretty much all legs and so skinny, but since I am way behind on this post, he is actually really starting to look chubby. Mommy loves chubby babies. Cohen is a very fussy baby and I haven't really tried a schedule yet, but we are about to start working on it very soon. Mommy needs sleep. However, a schedule will be hard since we have two wild toddlers running around everywhere.

Poor baby, he is always crying!!
Sweet thing

Right before surgery
All I can do is try to smile, since he screams nonstop.
Right after surgery.
Just had his first feeding after surgery.
I am feeling better :)
