First of all, I want to thank everyone for all the thoughts and prayers for Miss Caroline. We are done with our doctor appointments for awhile. We met with a neurosurgeon about the shape of her head. The x-rays came back perfect once again. He determined it is a cosmetic problem, so he wants to see us back in two months. Now, the hard part is David and I trying to keep her off the left side when she sleeps!! Speaking of sleeping, the sweet baby has been sleeping anywhere from 7-11 hours a night!! I hope she keeps that up!! I can't believe how much she has changed in the past week!! She smiles non-stop, coos like crazy, holding her head up great!! She is very vocal, for example if David and I start talking to her, she takes a deep breath and tries to be louder than us. She also has a fake cough that she does to get my attention, I always say "goodness" and she smiles so big. I can't believe how much she is changing right before our eyes everyday!!!

Update on Caroline!!
I swear my poor baby girl has had more doctor's appointments than I have had in my whole lifetime. As you all know, she has very bad reflux, something she will just have to outgrow. Well, since birth she has had a squeak noise that she makes when she inspires. It has continued to get worse, so we went to see an ENT doctor and he did diagnose her with laryngomalacia. Laryngomalacia is the most frequent cause of stridor or noisy breathing in infants. It occurs as a result of a floppy portion of the larynx (voice box) that has not yet developed the strength to provide rigid support of the airway. During inspiration, negative pressure is created through the larynx, which results in a collapse of these structures into the airway and a narrower breathing passage. The partial obstruction is the source of the noise with breathing. He could do surgery and snip open the larynx to help it mature, but he feels she will outgrow this by 12 months. Reflux and laryngomalacia go hand-in-hand. He did a scope down her throat and said it was moderate, but she has no obstruction in her airways, which is what I was worried about. Also, another issue is the shape of her head on the left side. From very early in my pregnancy she was very low in my pelvis, causing positional plagiocephaly. Positional plagiocephaly is a non-synostotic asymmetrical head shape that results over time from being in the same position, which Caroline's was caused due to restrictive intrauterine environment. We are going to see a specialist to see if she will need to wear a helmet to correct it. It hasn't seemed to get better since birth. David and I always position her to take pressure off that side, but she prefers to turn her head in that direction, so it is sometimes a challenge. We have extensive periods of tummy time, which she isn't a huge fan, but she does seem to like it more everyday. I have a feeling the doctor will want to give it until she is 4 months old and then have her fitted for a helmet it we don't see improvement. We are just thankful that she does not have craniosynostosis. It is a medical condition in which some or all of the sutures in the skull of an infant or child close too early, causing problems with normal brain and skull growth. The x-rays showed no signs of this. But, the most important thing overall with all this said is she is healthy and thriving very well!! She is becoming a great sleeper!! Most nights she will sleep from 11-7. She has started taking two long naps a day in her crib. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts of our sweet girl.

2-month stats
Caroline had her two month checkup yesterday. There is lots to tell, but she needs to eat and she is about to let me know about it :) We have a lot of appointments coming up, so will explain all of that later. She weighed 11 pounds 1 oz. and is 22 inches long. Just please pray for us right now!! We don't think it is anything serious, but we will not know until we hear back from Children's.

Caroline is two months old!!!
Since, the weather was beautiful yesterday we decided to spend the day outside. We loaded up the whole case (even the pups got to come). We went to the Flying Fish to get takeout and ate lunch at the pavilion area. There was a country concert going on, so we got to enjoy some music. Caroline was two months old yesterday!! I dread tomorrow because she has to get shots, I am doing a delayed vaccine schedule, so she will only get two as opposed to four. I will be posting my vaccine schedule that I am doing, so any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. I have done lots of research, but I am still in a whirlwind about the vaccines.

Lesley's Visit
Heather, Jon and Addie Priddy
David's mom came to visit August 6-16. We were so sleep deprived when she arrived, that it could of not been better timing!! We still didn't know that Caroline had the protein allergy, so it was so exhausting to even feed her. The day after Lesley arrived, Caroline had her one month check-up, that is when we got referred over to a GI doctor. Lesley went through every step of the way helping us with Caroline. She got to experience a much happier Caroline once we switched her to the amino-acid based formula. Lesley could definitely see how drained David and I were, so she did night duty with Miss Caroline almost every night. David and I didn't know what to do to get a full night's sleep. We stayed around the house a lot, but we did go out to dinner a couple of times. We also went to the zoo, Caroline slept through her whole zoo experience. Aunt Sarah and Uncle Jason kept Caroline one night, while we went to Cajun's for dinner. It was sooo good!! We were so sad to see Lesley go, but the good news is that she is coming back to visit in October :) Caroline will have to choose what she calls her grandmothers, but my pick for Lesley is Sassy!!
